We never thought the breathtakingly human Caroline Smart, my life-long soul mate, would cover her head with wigs. Her iconic long black hair flowed in sync with her femininity. Have you seen her lately? The one and only will always be known because of her attitude. Very few even care that she lives confidently wearing wigs. It’s not so unusual.

Back in the day as mere children in our home town of Scottsdale, we used to took turns winning Miss “SCH” four years running. A few years went by before her medical hair loss kicked in and she became nearly bald. I did hint at a few synthetic wigs. Even so she just shaved her head. Unfazed by medical hair loss, she took the time and never let you forget about her attitude.

Appearing at our alma mater’s homecoming, we flirted with the crowd till her loverboy accidentally kicked the little ball (or however you say it) at the crowd. Quick on her feet, she went to grab it and her cute little hat fell off, unveiling her bald head. No big deal, she tossed the ball into the goal. Attitude, did I mention she’s got it?

That said, everyone has insecurities. Once at our semi-monhtly mid-day lemonade chat, when she quietly said that she would rather do without hair out of anger. She missed her natural hair too much to become dependent on medical wigs, though she knew it was a good idea. Then just like that miss invincible stopped talking and asked that I it was silly. I had to oblige.

I couldn’t drop it. Shortly after, I called about settling the wig issue. Finally we came to the only logical action: lace front wigs for all! I used my credit card, and it was worth it.

We had a great time, bewildered by how natural they looked. I didn’t realize that synthetic wigs are so confidence inspiring for beautiful people and famous actors. These synthetic wigs were marvelous. I put together an entirely fresh wardrobe to go with my wig. Out of solidarity, if you haven’t heard. Not long ago she gave me a photo of us in our wigs and thanked me for reintroducing, and confessed it invites a new attitude in her life. It’s encouraging to have helped my best friend reclaim her beauty. Can’t wait to see that infamous “toss ‘n turn” again.
