Great Contemporary Carpet Ideas
Recent data from the flooring industry indicates that sales of striped home carpet ideas have grown by up to 200 per cent this year as influences from the fashion industry continue to find there way into interior design, providing fresh, hip flooring options for the home.
For a sizeable amount of time it has been noted that the relationship between the fashion industry and interior design industry is inextricably linked; there is also an agreement amongst interior designers that it’s great fun to be working with carpet again after years of having to focus on alternative flooring choices. Stripes can be put to stunning use in flooring and can be used as a great design tool. They can be used to elongate rooms, alter perspective, and bring together much wider colour palettes than you’d usually be able to use.
There is mounting opinion among those in the fashion and interior design industry that a good deal of the classic styles which were synonymous with the Seventies have started to re-emerge in regards to carpet. In terms of colour, on trend customers as well as interior designers have been requesting old-school 70’s shades such as deep purple, tangerine orange, and forest green.
The online carpet retailer Fun on the Floor are creating a unique space to showcase such carpet ideas. This unique house will be known as the Fun on the Floor house and will play the role of a showroom through a wide range of creatively designed rooms that feature carpet in stunning, creative and fun ways based on current interior trends and popular carpet choices. The house will initially be open by invitation to trade, national, consumer, regional journalists as well as key influencers such as interior designers, production companies for a free shoot location up until December.
To mark the re-emergence of a passion for carpets Danielle Proud, an established interior designer, is creating a quirky, themed, styled space that features six contrasting themed rooms. The Fun on the Floor house will demonstrate how carpet as a material can completely transform a home without costing an arm and a leg through a combination of texture, style and colour. Visitors can expect to explore the sensorial nature of carpet, appreciate its luxurious look and enjoy the comfortable feeling underfoot - not to mention appreciate its sound absorbing qualities.
Premier fashion gurus such as Paul Smith play a key role in promoting the strong colour palettes now available in stripey carpet collections. Some of these new styles are being given headline space in the interior design industry as well as featuring on the coolest floors across the country. Loud coloured stripes can add an extra bit of zeal to neutrally decorated rooms, or make a subtle impact, complementing different scale striped soft furnishings.
